Mike is making a PCB by toner transfer method for the audio link balun. General Business: Peter ZL2TDI commented on problems that Powerco had in the storms of three years ago in the Mangawhero/Taihape area. A long span of wire had been downed by the storm due to the use of heavier than normal wire and concrete poles. The concrete poles broke. 1km spans were being used. Hardwood poles are now preferred!! ZL2RR commented on the rescue of a Dutch couple reported in a recent Chronicle article. ZL2AHR has heard that the St Pauls Hall in which we hold our annual junk sale, is earmarked for demolition and the rebuilding of a new but smaller hall on the site. Timing is possibly around the date of the 2005 junk sale. This poses a number of problems for the club. He will keep us informed. ZL2MA asked if we need resource consent to put poles up at the clubrooms. ZL1BNB replied that we do but that the council would inform us when we lodge an application accompanied by $300. Meeting closed at 2005 hrs. ZL1BNB commented on a discussion paper of 48 pages found on the MED website referring to short range devices but making no mention of Amateurs. He suggested we all e-mail them expressing our disgust at this oversight and to protest the plan to extend band allocations for short range devices. ZL2MA said that Fred has approached MED and requested that clubs send submissions to NZART re SRDs. Meeting closed 2015hrs. E&OE
