Minutes of the
monthly meeting of the Wanganui Amateur Present: President John ZL2JEL + 17 members + 1 visitor. Visitors: Mathew ? Apologies: ZL2BGE, ZL2ATU, ZL2ACE, ZL2JC, ZL2VAV. Minutes: Were read and confirmed. Moved ZL2FT, Seconded ZL2FO. Matters arising: ZL2JEL reported that the lowering and dismantling of ZL2ATU's tower went well and a lovely morning tea was enjoyed by all who assisted. ZL2AHR asked Mike ZL1BNB how his council visit went. Mike asked members to refer to his recent e-mail. Also the council officers gave Mike a copy of an e-mail John had sent to them recently. ZL2TDI commented on an article in the Chronicle re WDC properties and in particular, the Bason Reserve. Correspondence :

690: Nil National System Project Report: Mike ZL1BNB had looked at a concrete pole which had been offered and found it to be cracked. He asked members to refer to his e-mail. General Business: ZL2JEL wondered how many members would be keen to help at The Motorcycle Club MX event on 13 & 14 November. ZL1BNB suggested this be revisited at the November meeting. ZL1BNB commented on a program aired on BBC Radio 4 on Saturday gone called Unsung Heroes which gave an account of the efforts of Hams during the 9 11 terrorist attack. Mike has downloaded the program and can provide it in MP3 or Wave format. ZL2MA advised of a talk to be given at the 06 meeting
at Woodville Racecourse on Sunday coming by the project engineer
of Meridian Energy. ZL2TDI commented on some unauthorised testing on 690 by ZL2NAA. ZL2MA provided an explanation. ZL2JEL asked Mike if we would use the pipe extension on the Nat Sys ant pole. ZL1BNB yes. ZL1BNB commented on a discussion paper of 48 pages found on the MED website referring to short range devices but making no mention of Amateurs. He suggested we all e-mail them expressing our disgust at this oversight and to protest the plan to extend band allocations for short range devices. ZL2MA said that Fred has approached MED and requested that clubs send submissions to NZART re SRDs. Meeting closed 2015hrs. E&OE
